A new event for our region in the shape of the picturesque Market Town of Helmsley, I think it was the Brainchild of the Beverley and Bridlington Scooter clubs to have a ride out to the town, then carry on to Scarborough for the afternoon,
Glad to say that it is now a yearly event and and attracting more Scooters every year, I do know that the 2006 event was held very early on in the year and the freshly salted roads were loving the Scooters chrome plating, Ah such is this Scootering life......
A few extra pics taken at the Scarborough end, think there were a few snow flurries on the Marine drive so it was wrap up and leg it time for yours truly..
Knaresborough, it's nearly 26 years since i first attended this early season event and i've every year i come home wet through, windswept or in the case of 2006 Snow flustered, Naturally i'm a moaning old ....., but yeah yeah , 2009 will i be there, course i will, roll on Knares.....
come to think of it, this pic of Pirates of the Carribean fairly well sums the day up, ''SHIVER ME TIMBERS,'' aaarrrr
Morecambe Bay, don't ask me how many times i've attended events at this town, be it Nationals, Trojan Scooter club, VFM or Allnighters on the end of the pier, there's one thing for certain i'e always enjoyed myself at this Resort, I should really of got myself organised and stopped the weekend, but nowadays enjoying the ride more than the hangover I decided it was going to be a coast to coast in the day,
As usual you did'nt need a Town planner and i soon found the usual Lambretta repair team working on West End Road, luckily mine did'nt miss a beat, who said Lambrettas are unreliable, oh yeah it was me..
Quick natter to the oily hands brigade then down to the Ranch Bar for a pint and a walk round the roadside custom show, some lovely Scoots on display, favourite of the day VESPAMANIA,
Headed for home soon after, and as usual wished i'd stayed as i passed loads of Scooters heading West as i Scooted east, mind you never broke down, mint them Lambrettas you know....
Following on from my own personal coast to coast, the next day i took the family to Scarborough for an ice cream, naturally Scarborough being Scarborough, and it being a bank holiday then your bound to get a photo opportunity, honest i did'nt plan it love.... Kids... Honest..
Redcar, home of the Frontline Scooter Club, certainly a well known club on the Scooter scene and for me personly good friends since my late Teens, and that was a long time ago,
The pics were taken at their 25th anniversary event which was held in the Coatham Bowl, The infamous Battle of Redcar as it was called in the 1980s Scooter publications seemed a million miles away as Scooterists enjoyed the well attended event, only downside for me was my mate winning a TS1 kit in the raffle, me i always win the cheap screwdrivers...
Skegness, good old Skeggy eh, well maybe not the 1990 Rally, but I still like visiting the town on my Scooter,
afraid the rain clouds were out when i was taking pictures, but i'm glad to say the sun shone as i crossed the Humber Bridge back into good old Yorkshire, aah gods own county....
