The rideout to Ripon was a bit of a word of mouth, or internet organised rally, the West Yorkshire lads were to meet in Otley then ride over to Ripon so we headed to Otley, first Scooters we met were the Shipley S.C keeping the drizzle out with the ultimate in 70's waterproofs the R.A.F Greatcoats, a quick natter and a few photo's and the rideout got going, met up with plenty more Scoots in Ripon a few more pics then we headed for home, a good day out, and well done to the orginisers.
Sherburn in Elmet, famous in Yorkshire for it's Wednesday night motorcycle gatherings, So what better night to have the Y.S.A multi club meet in the same town, To tell you the truth I did'nt realise so many bikes went there and never saw any for the first 35 miles but the last 10 miles were like being on the Donnington racetrack, from the idiot coming towards us on his back wheel to the 100 mph biker mice coming down the side all reinforcing my belief that I made the right choice sticking with the Scooter Scene, anyhow back to the story, as usual a good healthy turnout of Scooters and a plentiful spread of free pub grub, definately worth going to these midweek events, unless you prefer soap operas, stopped off in Tadcaster for petrol on the way back and came under the scrutiny of the local Chavs, best bit was they thought Lambrettas were mint , knew the names of the Tad Scooter lads and I would imagine thought that the bloke spinning his bike tyre, I assume for our benefit was a T****R, so hopefully we may see some new blood in years to come to add to Tadcasters long Scooter history.
Cleckheaton or the ClecHuddersFax Rideout, got set off very late for this one and went on a trusty Vespa 200 knowing I would'nt have to stop and get the spanners out, still running late I headed straight to Cleckheaton and arrived just nicely before the rest of the Rideout Scooters arrived, good afternoon had by all and got to within 20 miles of home when one of the lads got a puncture, so you guessed it , SPANNERS OUT.
Wednesday night and were heading for the Historic Minster town of Beverley for the Y.S.A multiclub meet, once again a real good turnout of Scooters and certainly a must attend meet for anyone with a big appetite, I honestly thought I'd gatecrashed a wedding when I saw the food laid out for the visiting Scooter Clubs, well done to the Beverley S.C now I'll go on a diet.
just a snapshot of 2 scoots I found loitering outside our house, dont know if they were eyeing up the biscuit barrel or the wifes washing line, answers on a postcard.....
Tan Hill, the highest pub in England and the venue for the Selby Moving Targets weekend Welly Throwing competition, being strictly a daytripper nowadays it was a pleasure to ride on the Moorland roads to the venue and spend the day in good company, could'nt help but notice how many smart customised Vespa gts autos there were at the event, finally the Scooter Scene seems to be moving into the 21 century.
