2002
The Scooter in the first pic was taken at Whitby and was a real love at first site bike for me, not everyones cup of tea with its multiple florida bars and mirrors but certainly something completely different to the Scooters in my neck of the woods, anyhow on with the pics Easter at Whitby 2002.
A few weeks after the Whitby run there was the traditional run to York, which to be fair had seen it's glory days in the 1980s and had been on the wane in more recent years, but on arrival I was more than suprised at the ammount of Scooters which had turned up, there must of been a couple of hundred from the West Yorkshire clubs alone who had travelled through enmasse , and there seemed to be a real buzz in the air which was going to get a lot better as the summer went on and I got to hear about the new Yorkshire Scooter Alliance.
Told you I liked that Suedehead Scooter, here it is again this time at the Untouchables Rally in Scarborough along with the lads from Leeds Crusaders.
Huddersfield, can't remember how I heard about this event but set off on my own in search of this Rally, need'nt of worried as 1 mile into the journey I bumped into the Eastfield and Whitby lads, all I knew was there was a meet at Huddersfield and no one mentioned the rideout afterwards to Last of the summer wines town Holmfirth, and must admit was getting worried when I saw signposts for Manchester, all in all a good day out and it was nicely capped off by seeing my old GP which i'd bought new and regrettably sold was now back on the road and resprayed back to black with Chinese signwriting.{pic below}
A few more pics to go at, they were taken at Fort Paull, which was a war museum near Hull and definately a different venue for a Scooter Rally, the second pics were taken at a waterlogged Cleethorpes event and finally the Snooty Fox.
The 2002 photos finish with a photo shoot for the Heartbeat series, we were all asked to attend a photo shoot in York to decide who still looked like a teenager to appear in the latest Heartbeat series, i was rejected straight away, mind you i was pushing my luck as i was 37 years old and i was one of the younger ones, in the end we were all rejected even the lad who is pictured on my Scooter and he genuinely was a teenager, though every cloud has a silver lining as we were paid a kings ransom to hire our Scoots out for 9 days, resulting in me getting a respray and a bit of chroming courtesy of Yorkshire television.
