1987 RALLIES page 2
Yeah Yeah I know Scarborough did'nt come after Morecambe in 87, but stick with me and I will explain later why the late 80's are lacking photos.
Anyhow way I remember Scarborough this year was that someone came up with the bright idea to charter a Trawler, put a record player on it and fill it up with drunken Scooterboys, and then send it out to sea under the guise of a floating Disco, Course muggings here and many others signed up for the voyage, bad move I have never seen so many palefaced spewing Scooterboys in my life, anyhow back to the photo's and if anyone says that everyone rode brush painted scooters in the late 80s then just show them this lot.
Now back to the story of the missing pictures, it could of been 86 but I think it was 1987 that we attended a rally to Rhyl it was hastily organized and a real word of mouth event due to a rally being cancelled so only two of us set off, heading west towards Leeds we must of passed half of the Yorkshire clubs heading East towards Scarborough, undettered we pressed on to North Wales and was releived to find around a 1000 scooters had also turned up at Rhyl, an excellent weekend on the beer ensued only marred by two things the first was getting my jacket and beloved camera nicked in a night club the second been my pillion spewing all over my also beloved tent, so if your ever in Rhyl and you find an abondoned tent a flight jacket and a camera then their mine, trouble being in those days I thought the price of a pint was more important than a new camera so were a bit lacking on the photos at the end of the 80s
The above pictures would of been taken at Cadwell Park and the 3 Sisters Race Tracks, If memory serves me well I think the Yellow SX was water cooled and the red and silver scoots were owned by Ralph at RS Tuning in Doncaster.
By the end of 1987 I upgraded   my Jet 200 powered Lambitza for an Italian GP200 also my ultra reliable P200E finally ground to a halt on the way to Nottingham and was swapped within the week to my mate Chris who turned up to work on another P200 with my Nickname on the number plate, now that was fate, so we left 1987 with 2 new scooters and 2 trips to hospital the first being me and my then Girlfriend getting knocked off my Scoot on a day run to Brid, the second was riding her scoot and the back hub flying off, Although neither of these matched up to the bone cruncher of 1988 and the jinxed GP.
