1985 RALLIES page 3
THE Isle of Wight or as I remember it the ''Isle of Mud'', you may be able to tell by the pictures that it rained, leaving the campsite a complete mud bath, can't really remember anything about the rally in 85 but who could say the same about the 1986 Rally..?
THE BATTLE OF
I've nicked the title the Battle of Redcar from Martin Dixon's Scootermania Magazine as I think it summed the rally up perfectly, Do'nt get me wrong though, last year I attended the Redcar Frontline S.C 25th anniversary event and as usual it was a trouble free event, but in 1985 as well as having a very well known Scooter Club it was probably more famous for it,s football fans or as they were known back in the day the Redcar Casuals.
We did,nt set off till Saturday morning with it being a local rally and enjoyed a good day in Redcars Seafront Pubs, but Saturday night all hell let loose with Skirmishes all over town culminating in a mass charge of Scooterboys out of the Allnighter to do battle with the local lads, only to be stopped in their tracks by a line of Police, The thing I do remember though is when we were leaving on Sunday morning someone actually set a wagon park on fire, So there you go the 1985 season goes out with a blaze. Roll on 86....
