1985 RALLIES page 2
Good laugh down in Colwyn Bay, Can't really remember but I think we may of even been allowed to camp in the Police Station gardens that weekend, suppose it was easier to keep an eye on the wayward Scooter Boys. I do remember being in a pub in town on the Saturday dinnertime when as old Saddam would of said '' The Mother of all battles '' kicked off between different Scooter Clubs, it was certainly better viewing than Dickie Davies on World of Sport anyhow, mind you it was harder to get a pint   on saturday night. Now let me think where did we go next..?
Donnington or D.I.S.C 85 as it was known, was I think run by either Vespa/Piaggio itself, with the attractions of a big custom show etc.., So somewhere along the line   me and my mates came up with this simple plan to enter 6 Scooters from Pickering into the show win Best Club Stand and clear off with the Trophy, Easy as that ''NO''
We travelled down friday night in the rain to get there and pitched tents in the muddy quagmire of Donnington, then into the custom show to set up our scoots, it was then that we realised what we were actually competing against as clubs such as the Barnsley Vikings and Wakefield Knights started to set up there club   stands, these lads must of had some of the best scooters in the country at this time, and were a real credit to there owners, needless to say we did'nt win anything and I do'nt think I've entered a serious custom show since.
The rally itself was'nt too bad, some headline bands played but personally I was never too keen on the inland rallies still are'nt come to think of it, like me fish and chips too much.
The pictures at the top are the bikes we entered the rest were taken at the show.
